    Description

    THIS IS A SEWING PATTERN (THERE IS NO FINISHED ITEM, OR DOLL INCLUDED).
    THIS AUCTION IS FOR A VINTAGE YESTERYEAR'S DOLL CLOTHES SEWING PATTERN. IT IS DESIGNED FOR A 19"- 20" DOLL WITH FRENCH OR GERMAN COMPOSITION BODY, OR SIMILAR DOLL MEASURED FROM HEAD TO TOE. (CHEST 11"; WAIST 11 1/4"; HIP 14 1/2" ).
    THE PATTERN INCLUDES THE CHILD'S PROMENADE JACKET-DRESS AND HAT, CIRCA. 1883- 1888.
    AND IS  EXACT COPY OF AN ACTUAL CHILD'S DRESS AND HAT OF THE MID- 1800'S.
    THE ORIGINAL WAS MADE OF BROWN  PLAID TAFFETA AND TRIMMED WITH RED SILK FAILLE. THE FULL PLEATED SKIRT HAD A LARGE BOX PLEAT AT CENTER BACK, AND DOUBLE INVERTED PLEATS OF RED SILK SET IN AT CENTER FRONT, THE PLAID TAFFETA JACKET WAS FITTED IN THE BACK AND HUNG OPEN AT THE FRONT. IT WAS TRIMMED WITH 12 TINY BUTTONS. THE JACKET FRONT OPENING. PLEATED WHITE LACE WAS USED TO TRIM THE JACKET NECK AND SLEEVES. THE STEEPLE-CROWN HAT, SO POPULAR IN THIS PERIOD, WAS MADE OF BROWN VELVET AND LINED WITH CREAM SILK. THE TURNED UP CROWN
    WAS FACED WITH THE LINING SILK, AND HE CROWN WAS TRIMMED WITH A LARGE SILK FAILLE BOW AND MATCHING OSTRICH PLUM. THE PATTERN AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE COMPLETE AND UNCUT. THE ENVELOPE SHOWS SOME WEAR.
