    Description

    Date of 1968, original, size 21 x 30 inches, woodcut lithography ink color of an acid free on handmade paper. Artist by Mao Zedong Thought Combat Team, issued by the Hankou Worker’s Rebellion Headquarters (HWRH), suite 401, Liberation Building, the province of Hubei, China.
    This is an early Chinese Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution (CGPCR) poster, especially a Mao‘s spiritual instruction propaganda printed by the southern. HWRH was the first workers rebel organization in Hubei established Nov. 10

    The poster based on the spirit of the 5.16 Notice, which a notice of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCCPC) issued by the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the CCCPC on May 16, 1966. The Notice was a symbol of the initiation of the Cultural Revolution. Because in this Notice It says to the all levels of the officials whom must pay full attention to the fact, that there are a group of counter-revolutionary and revisionists who are sleeping just next to us. We cannot trust those people to lead the Cultural Revolution.
    The poster titled with Mao quotation, that the revolution is not a treat for dinner, an essay, or painting and embroidery. It can't be so elegant, unhurried, gentle, courteous and frugal. A revolution is a riot, a violent action by a class to overthrow a class. This passage is taken from an article written by Mao Zedong (1893 – 1976) during the Agrarian Revolution in 1927 (Investigation Report on Hunan Peasant Movement). It was widely quoted during the Cultural Revolution and became the basis for violence against "counter-revolutionaries" and "capitalist roaders." The background of the poster shows the scene of the peasant uprising and Mao’s commanding.
