    *Please see picture below for signal routing and isolation. It appears that this was designed for separate RX and TX antennas rather than separate RX and TX transceiver paths, based on isolation values.

    Common uses for circulators:
    Circulators are typically used for separating forward / reverse signals.
    Separating RX / TX at the antenna interface.
    E.g. if the receiver filter cannot handle full TX power in a full-duplex test setup.
    RX sensitivity testing - the TX channel needs to be solid for reporting radio status, whereas the RX channel is near sensitivity level.
    Circulators provide the needed asymmetry between forward / reverse links.
    Common uses for isolators:
    Isolators (circulators with 3rd port terminated) are typically used for isolating circuits from imperfect 50 ohm impedance matches.
    Protection of PA (power amplifier) from VSWR effects at antenna / duplexer interface.
    Protection of frequency sources (PLL VCO, DRO etc...) from disturbances at the RF port / VCO frequency pulling.
    Inter-stage matching isolation such as isolation of PA driver from PA input match.
    Inter-stage matching isolation where filters and amplifiers are involved.
